About Us

New Era Fiber was founded in 2000 in Dawsonville, Ga. New Era Fiber has a reputation for providing quality yarns to its customers, winning many AOBA awards for mill skein yarns.

In July, 2005 the company was sold to Bill and Ruth Fuqua of Hickory Bluff Farms, and Karl and Jan Heinrich of Long Hollow Suri Alpacas in Tennessee. New Era was relocated to Lebanon Tn., with easy access from I-65.

Using the same equipment used since the inception of New Era Fiber, the process has been streamlined and enhanced to provide full time processing of huacaya, suri and llama fiber. The quality customers have come to expect from New Era will be continued.

The Fuquas are huacaya breeders, and the Heinrichs are suri breeders, giving them insights to the particular needs of alpaca fiber customers. With the additional expertise of Bill, Ruth Karl and Jan in marketing, engineering, and quality assurance, customers can expect even more.

You can rest assured that each fleece will be treated like our own, and processed to meet the expectations of your spinning, knitting and weaving customers.
